COMPACT CASSETTE
The February 9th, 1974 issue of 'Sounds' published an alert from its 'Fair Deal' consumer service which has discovered
that a large number of cassettes are defective. The trouble started when Manticore were forced to import their entire
supply of cassettes for the British market from Atlantic in New York because of the vinyl shortages and energy crises
in Britain. The tapes had been manufactured in America by Ampex. A spokesman for Manticore in London said they
did not get sample copies of the tapes before they went on sale in Britain. Manticore had offered to replace faulty
cassettes as soon as they have a supply of good items.
